Upul Tharanga suspended for next two matches due to slow over rate

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Sri Lanka’s stand-in captain Upul Tharanga has been suspended for next two matches of Champions trophy, after four hour innings, a serious case of slow over rate against South Africa yesterday at Oval.

Sri Lanka took more than four hour to bowl their 50 overs and match referee David Boon termed it as a serious offence.

It has been a big blow to already weakened Sri Lanka, played the match against South Africa without Angelo Mathews, their regular captain. now, it’s difficult situation for them,  ahead of their next game, again at Oval on 8th June, against mighty India.

If Mathews won’t be able to fit for that match also, they will  have to find a third captain in a short tournament like Champions Trophy.
