Virender Sehwag to become team India’s new coach!

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Legendary India opener Virender Sehwag has become the most high-profile cricketer to apply for the post of India’s next coach. The BCCI had asked for new applications for the high-profile post, as current head coach Anil Kumble’s tenure will come to an end after the Champions trophy.

Australian Tom Moody, Englishman Richard Pybus, former India cricketer Dodha Ganesh and former India A coach Lal Chand Rajput have also applied for the job. While Anil Kumble is an automatic entrant into the process.

However, the entry of Sehwag — one of India’s greatest ever game changer — makes the battle for the position very interesting. He doesn’t have any prior coaching experience apart from mentoring IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab and recently, it was the BCCI top brass that convinced him to apply for the post.

Now, as Sehwag has a bigger profile compare to other applicants, and it is also almost certain that Anil Kumble won’t get a second term following his open dispute with Virat Kohli, it’s almost confirm that he will be team India’s next coach.
