140kg, 6’6″ allrounder Cornwall could be west Indies next big thing

Even though Rahkeem Cornwall looks more suited to American football, with his 6’6″ height and 140kg weight, right now, he is making headlines in the cricket world, thanks to his blistering innings of 59, including three towering sixes, against touring England. His innings came against world class bowlers like Ben Stoke, plankett and moeen Ali. And now, cricket world is hopeful that the 24 year old gaint allrounder could be west Indies next big thing.

Cornwall has played in the warm-up games for WICB XI against India during India’s tour to West Indies in 2016. In that match, he scored 41 runs and took five wickets as well. The wickets included that of Ajinkya Rahane, Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara.

In the recent warm-up game against England, Cornwall also took one wicket for 39 runs from the 10 overs.

In first-class career so far, Cornwall has played 25 matches and scored runs at an average of 24. In bowling, he has taken 125 wickets with a strike-rate of 50.

West Indies cricket board is also excited by this new talent. So much that they are even orgainising a diet program for Cornwall, so he can lose his weight.
