Kusal-Mathews partnership crucial for Sri Lanka

Written by Shreyas Vyas

Tomorrow is going to be a defining day for Sri Lanka cricket. In the only test against Zimbabwe, at RPS Colombo, if Sri Lanka wins, it would be the start of a new era under the leadership of new captain Dinesh Chandimal. If they loose, it would be the “official death” of Sri Lanka cricket! They need 218 more runs to win the match, and Kusal Mendis and Angelo Mathews are at the crease, two batsmen, who will decide the fate of Sri Lanka cricket in next 24 hours.

But, whatever the result will be tomorrow, this pair gives hope. Angelo Mathews is one of Sri Lanka’s best ever test batsman, in fourth innings. Known for his gritty knocks under pressure, his presence gives a ray of hope to millions of Sri Lanka fans.

Kusal Mendis, on the other hand, is one of the best young batsman of the world cricket right now. In his merely 18 months old career so far, he already has played some great test innings.

Zimbabwe have sensed a miracle! on the fourth day, all the 48 overs were bowled by spinners, and their captain Graeme Cremer delivered 19 overs on a trot. Now, it’s up to Kusal and Mathews, what kind of script, they will write for Sri Lanka.
